Sorry, this journal is friends-only from here on out - you can find out more about me here, but otherwise I don't really feel like sharing all the details of my personal life with the public at large.
If you know me, just drop me a line or leave a comment here and I'll send you an invite that'll add you to my friends' list automatically when you create an account ...
Yeah, I know, sorry - to read more, you're going to have to sign up, log on, etc., etc. ...

Real DJs Code Live [Wired]
"Some DJs spin vinyl or twiddle fader knobs. Others write subroutines in C++.
A new brand of music maestro is turning programming into performance, eschewing turntables for a compiler and a mind for syntax structure. "Livecoding" practitioners improvise using Perl or homemade programming architectures to build compositions from the ground up, replacing instruments and samples with raw code authoring before a live audience."
Wow.

One thing that's come out of being home the last few days - I finally got a chance to update my Etsy shop. I made up a batch of gaming dice earrings and necklaces a few weeks ago, but I just got around to taking pictures yesterday:

I should have posted this last month ... an old article I found in my Greencrafting inbox, from Ideal Bite:

This is quite a cool project from the folks at Amnesty International:

The gist of it is to raise awareness about internet censorship, and to allow internet users to help undermine censorship "by publishing irrepressible fragments of censored material on your own site."
Unfortunately, as someone on digg pointed out, they're just providing a javascript include for publishers - any agency or government that wanted to suppress that content would only have to block the irrepressible.info domain.
So, sure, they need a server-side script, but I think the point is well expressed "that online or offline the human voice and human rights are impossible to repress". Voices might be stifled temporarily, but people will always find a way to be heard.
Anyway, I put one of the banners up on WDWPWP - I've only looked at it in Safari, though, so some of you Firefox/IE users take a look and let me know if it's lining up. :)

- "Adidas Adicolor Video: The '80s was the Worst. Decade. Ever. Despite the trend to celebrate the days of Reaganomics, fluorescent T-shirts, and crimped hair, we refuse to cave to the pressure. We admit, however, that one funky phenomenon from 20 years ago deserves to see the light of day again: the Adidas Adicolor. To regale in the revival of these customizable sneakers—ambitiously updated for the 21st century—Adidas solicited seven short films from innovative directors, each dedicated to a different color."

"First lady Laura Bush said on Sunday she does not believe opinion polls showing her husband's approval ratings at record low levels."
Of course she doesn't.
